Katherine Bergeret Obituary

BERGERET Katherine McCulloch Kammer Bergeret died peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Born in New Orleans on July 4, 1910, she was a life-long resident of the city. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Eugene Jules (Gene) Bergeret. A graduate of Louise S. McGehee School and Newcomb College, she studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. Upon returning to New Orleans, she became an art instructor at Newcomb College and later did free lance commercial art and bookbinding. She was active in Phi Mu Alumnae, Newcomb Alumnae Assoc., New Orleans Garden Society and the Orleans Club. Survivors include 2 daughters, Katherine (Kay) Bergeret Trebellas (John C.) of Williamsburg, VA and Jane Bergeret Larose (James H.) of Mountain Brook, AL, 4 grandchildren: Katherine Trebellas Restina (Paul), Christine Trebellas-Keane (John Brian), Jeanne Larose Bodenheimer (Robert), and Michael Bergeret Larose, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the services on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00am at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA, 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Poydras Home, 5354 Magazine St., New Orleans 70115, or Phi Mu Foundation, 400 Westpark Drive, Peachtree City, GA 30269. How I loved Mrs. Bergeret. I would still go see her even two years after my mother passed away at The Poydras Home. She loved my dog, Sophie and it brought me so much joy watching her love my puppy. I will never forget her!
