Kathryn Eberle Wildgen

1942 - 2023

Kathryn Eberle Wildgen died at home on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the age of 81. Dr. Wildgen was graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1959. She was graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University in 1963. She earned a French Government Fellowship to the University of Poitiers, France, and a Fulbright Travel Grant for the 1963-64 academic year. In 1965 she was awarded an assistantship at Duke University where she earned the Ph. D. in 1972. In 1967, she was married to fellow graduate student John Kevin Wildgen, who preceded her in death in 2012. She was the daughter of the late Marjorie Forstall Eberle and the late Gerald Joseph Eberle, and the sister of the late Thomas Forstall Eberle and the late Michael Gerald Eberle. She is survived by her daughter, Erika Forstall Wildgen, by nephews Jeffrey Thomas Eberle, Richard Michael Eberle, Benjamin Michael Eberle and Jeremy Kenneth Eberle, by beloved cousins too numerous to name and cherished friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Joseph Abbey or Saint Peter Parish or to your favorite charity is preferred. A Memorial Mass will be offered at Saint Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA at 2:00 p.m. on October 21, 2023. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private.
