A GENTLE SMILE, SAID HIS THOUGHTS
SOMETHING ONE, COULD ALWAYS READ
THE WARMTH SHARED, WITH SUCH A GIFT
TRULY SAT WELL, UPON THIS MAN

HAIR OF SILVER, NEVER DULLED
SHEEN AS IF, IT WAS MADE
TO DRESS HIM KINDLY, IN THIS TIME
ALWAYS SPEAKING ,IN ITS WAY
I AM AS I AM, FOR WHAT ELSE CAN I BE
THAN THIS I AM

A BURST OF LAUGHTER, LOUD AND CLEAR
LET IT BE KNOWN, HE WAS THERE
SHEER ENJOYMENT, IN THE MOMENT AT HAND
A GIFT SO RARE, SO FEW POSSESS

LACK OF SPEECH, WAS NOT OF HIM
QUICK TO COME BACK, WITH A QUIRK
IF ONE EVER DARED, TO ENTER IN
ONE SURELY MET HIS MATCH,
WITH THIS MAN, I CAN ASSURE

A WRITER OF MANY WORDS
A STORY TELLER, OF CHILDRENS DREAMS
WHAT MORE CAN ONE POSSESS, THAN TO
KNOW THE WORDS, UPON THE PAGE HE WRITES
IS READ, BY THE HEARTS OF THOSE SO YOUNG
TO BE ENJOYED, EVEN MORE TO SET FORTH
AN EXAMPLE, FOR THEMSELVES TO BE
EVEN IF , SOME A BIT RASH
EVEN MORE , FOR THE BRAVE AT HEART

SO MY FRIEND, IN THIS HOUR SO DARK
LET IT BE KNOWN, THE EMPTYNESS FELT
FOR THE SMILE, IS SORELY MISSED
THE LAUGHTER IS GONE, AND ALL IS QUIET
THE WRITER PEN IS NO MORE

FOREVER

YOUR FRIEND
