Lawrence J. Henling Jr.

HENLING Lawrence J. Henling, Jr. Born August 22, 1920 in New Orleans, LA; died July 9, 2013 in Seattle, WA. Survived by Colleen, his loving wife of 62 years; his children, Colleen E. Henling, Lawrence M. Henling, Daniel P. Henling, and Brian S. Henling (Geri); his grandchildren, Julie, Shelly, Molly, Lily, Carly, and Paul. Larry was a native and resident of New Orleans, until leaving in 2011 to live with his son Brian and his family in Seattle. He worked as a civilian employee of the US Army before enlisting in the US Navy in 1942. During the war he earned a bachelor's degree in Naval Engineering at Tufts University. After discharge in 1946 he proudly served as a US Naval Reserve Officer for 35 years, retiring as a Lt. Commander. During this time he worked first for the Navy, and then the US Department of Agriculture. He was a loving father and grandfather, and a friend to many, quick to offer assistance to family, friends, and relatives. He will be greatly missed. There will be a private service in Seattle, WA.
