Leon Thomas

Leon Thomas, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and family member, was called home by his heavenly father on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at the blessed age of 92 at VA Community Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Leon was born on July 22, 1930 in Holly Bluff, Mississippi to the proud parents of Albert Thomas and Virgie Mary Thomas. He served in the United States Army and worked at National Warehouse. He is preceded in death by his wife Lucille Williams Thomas and parents Albert Thomas and Virgie Mary Thomas along with Victoria Jones, Andrew Thomas, Lonnie Thomas, siblings Foster, Emerson, James (Thomas), Eula Mack and Juanita Spains. He leaves to cherish his children Larry Thomas, Darryl Thomas, Denise (Thomas) Gibbs, Delores (Robert) Pellette, Gregory (Beverly) Thomas, Gary (Iris) Thomas, Tyronne (Sandra) Thomas and Sylvia Monday. Brother of Shirley McFarland, South Bend, Indiana, Ann Davis, Flora Kency, Willie (Pam) Thomas, Sr., Bolton, MS, John Lloyd and Dorothy Thomas. Daughter-in-law Cynthia Thomas. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews, family and friends. Bro. Leon was a faithful member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church for many years where he served as a member of the pastor aide committee. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren He was always protective of his family. Leon will truly be missed by his family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Avondale, LA on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 9 am until Service time at 10 am. Interment will follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale, LA. Mothe Funeral Homes handled arrangements.
