Lionel Hunter Sr.

Lionel Hunter, Sr. peacefully entered eternal life on Thursday, September 6, 2018, he was 70. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to Carolyn Martes Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar Hunter, Jr. and Willie Mae Hunter and his sisters Beverly Hunter Jesse and Diane Hunter. He is survived by his sons, Lionel Hunter, Jr. (Shandricker Hunter), Corey Hunter (Della Marshall), and Brian Hunter, Sr. (Valentina Alexander). He was the grandfather of Brian Jr., Braeden, Corinthia, Dominique, Milton and Lainee. He is survived by his siblings, Oscar Hunter, III, Willie Hunter, Sr., Linda Hunter Joseph, Joseph Hunter Sr., Christopher Hunter Sr., Elaine Hunter Moore, Alphonse Hunter Sr., and Darian O. Hunter. Lionel was born in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Carver High School. He served in the US Navy on the USS Essex and returned as a veteran of Vietnam. He was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 34 years, he was an avid fisherman and New Orleans Saints fan. Relatives and friends are invited to a final service, Friday, September 14, 2018, 9:00 a.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery with military honors, 34888 Grantham College Drive in Slidell, LA for 11:00 a.m. The repast will follow at Amaze Reception and Events Hall, 7300 Read Blvd, in New Orleans, LA.
