Liston Johnson Obituary

Liston Augustus Johnson Jr was born on February 6th 1922 and departed this life on November 15th 2014. He was the third of six children born to Liston Augustus Johnson Sr and Birdie Stone. After serving from November 4th 1942 to March 24th 1946 in the 82nd Army Air Force Band in World War II he returned to New Orleans and was a jazz musician for over 50 years. He played in the Roosevelt Hotel in the Fountain Lounge and Fairmont's Blue Room for 38 years. In addition, he played on Harry Connick Jr's first album in 1979 and the highlight of Liston's career came in his 1992 Tonight Show appearance with Mr Connick. He is survived by his son Gavin S. Johnson, sisters Freddie Davison, Gladys Sauls and Francis Britt. Visitation and Memorial service will be held on December 2nd from 11 AM to 1 PM at St. Margaret's, 3525 Bienville St, New Orleans, LA, 70119.

Gavin, Nia and I are so sorry that you must go through the loss of your dear kind Dad.
