LJ Brown

1933 - 2023

LJ Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the age of 90 with his beloved wife Cynthia Crusto Brown by his side. LJ retired from Baroid and Port of Cargo. Everyone who knew and loved LJ knew how fond he was of spending time at the Casino and Fairgrounds watching the racehorses. Mr. Brown was born on July 15, 1933 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Richard Brown and Beatrice Brock England. He is preceded in death by his sister Ula May Magee; two daughters, Shwanda A. Brown and Marian B. Steward; two step-sons, Albert Hull, Sr. and Samuel Hull; two brother-in-laws, Manuel M. Crusto and Leslie D. Crusto and one step grandson, Ervin A. Labostrie, III. Survived by wife, Cynthia Crusto Brown; son, Richard E. Brown, Sr. (Danielle) and four step-children; Shelita L. Sussmann (Adolph), Ervin A. Labostrie, Jr. (Paulette), Deneen L. Washington (Andrew) and Gerard J. Labostrie, Sr. He is also survived by sister, Georgia Lee Howard; uncle Sylvester Magee (Mude); aunt Ernestine Brock (AR Sonnyboy) both of Tylertown, Mississippi; three sister-in-laws, Jacqueline C. Ferguson (Oscar), Leanette C. Morris and Bernice Bell (Festus Oujum) and a host of grandchildren, great-grandhildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 3501 N. Miro Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70117. Visitation from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. Service will begin at 10:00a.m. Fr. Joseph Hund, OFM, officiating. Internment: Mount Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, New Orleans, Louisiana.
