Charles Louis Joseph Charles transitioned to Chapter Invisible on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 9:46 a.m. at Sanctuary at Passages Hospice. Born October 19, 1931 to the union of the late Horace and Pauline Mercier Charles in St. Martinville, Louisiana, he was the loving father of Lynn Charles of Lake Dallas, TX, David (Shana) of Olympia, WA, Brent (Dawn) of Chicago, IL and Tracey Charles of Dallas, TX; dedicated grandfather of Brandon, Owen and London Charles; eldest brother of James Charles, Sr.; former husband of the late Bernadine Bourgeois Charles; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family and friends, active and retired educators of the Orleans Parish Schools, US Postal Services, families of Academy Park, members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., clergy and parishioners of the International Shrine of St. Jude are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Katharine Drexel Chapel on the campus of Xavier University of Louisiana, 1 Drexel Drive, NOLA on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation begins at 8:00 a.m., Kappa Burial Ceremony at 9:00 a.m., Recitation of Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Interment: Mt.
