Margaret Kish Obituary

Margaret Supple Kish, who died at age 28, was a brilliant and elegant young woman. Maggie cherished her family and friends and the time she spent with them; she combined her strong identity with an undiminished spirit. Maggie was proud of her Irish heritage and her family's early arrival and industry in Louisiana. Her force protected those around her. Born on November 17, 1988 and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Maggie loved the outdoors and adventure. From Venture Scouts to duck blinds to canoeing the Rio Grande, Maggie knew no barriers. She attended University of Alabama and Louisiana State University and was a third generation Kappa Alpha Theta. Maggie married Thomas Kish at Nottoway Plantation on March 25, 2017. She officially became a member of her second family on the day of the wedding, but was a loving and caring member long before. She was delighted to be the Matron of Honor at the wedding of her beloved sister, Catherine less than a month ago. Maggie quickly recognized injustice and would pour all of her energy into righting it. She continued the fight toward remedying the inequities she saw, even at the end of her life when much of her energy was sapped. For the last seven years, Maggie battled Gastroparesis and never for a minute did she stop fighting. While the battles Maggie fought in life are over, her spirit and inspiration live on. Maggie was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Burdine Brush McElroy and Dorris Morrison Supple, her grandfathers, Arthur Allain Supple and James Grady McElroy, her cousin, Erin Leigh McElroy, and her uncle, Arthur Allain Supple, Jr. Maggie is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Selden Kish, her mother, Ellen McElroy Supple, her father, Timothy Herron Supple, her brother Nicholas Allain Supple, her sisters, Catherine Ellen Supple Bryant (Harrison), and Nicole Renee Showalter, her stepmother, Cathy Wyman Supple, her stepfather, Jeff Ducato, her stepbrother Asa Bernard Broussard, stepsister Ashley Martelle Broussard, and numerous cousins, uncles, and aunts. A Mass honoring Maggie's life will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 1030 Johnston Street, Lafayette, Louisiana. A memorial service followed by a luncheon on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of New Orleans, 5290 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans.
