Margaret "Maggie" Nesser

1932 - 2024

Margaret ("Maggie") Nesser passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024 at the age of 92. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph J. Nesser, Sr. her parents, Edward Gilbert and Katherine Bazile and 7 sisters and 2 brothers. She was the loving mother of Elizabeth, Arlene (Ronald Wendel) and Joseph Jr. (Tamara) and a proud "Granny" to Joseph III and James. Born in N.O., she attended St. Francis de Sales elementary school, Redemptorist Girls High School and night school at Rabouin where she took classes in designer dressmaking. Maggie and Joe lived in Lakeview for 50 years prior to Katrina and then moved to Metairie. She was actively involved in many church and social organizations including at St. Dominic (the Choir, Rosary Altar Society, Mothers' Club, K.C. Auxiliary), Ladies Leukemia League, Les Nouvelles and most recently at St. Angela Merici where she did volunteer work and sang in the choir. Maggie loved to socialize and was always an extremely active and joyful person even throughout her recent battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Monday August 26, 2024 at 10:30am at St. Angela Merici Church in Metairie with a mass following at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Angela Merici Church are welcome.
