Margaret Robertson

Margaret Robertson passed away on December 19, 2020 at the age of 93. She is remembered fondly by many other names; including Deah to her friends, DeeDah to her many nieces and nephews, and GiGi to her children, grandchildren and their friends. GiGi is preceded in death by her husband Justin (Robbie, or Dutchie) Robertson, her mother Helen Mitchell, her sister and best friend Marie Labure, her brother and friend Joseph "Bud" Mitchell, and her baby brother Lawrence Mitchell. There will be a huge void in the lives of GiGi's children: Sandra Robertson, Wanda Stephan, Paula Sequeira and husband Chris, and Cara Velez and husband Dale, as well as her grandchildren David Sequeira and wife Clarissa, Jack Stephan and Noah Velez. Also left behind is her friend and loving caregiver Iona Smith, who we were all blessed to have in our lives and as part of our family. GiGi lived her life for her children and grandchildren and enjoyed every moment she could with them. When she was younger, GiGi travelled with her children and enjoyed working in her garden and yard, and more recently enjoyed reading a good book. GiGi was a parishioner of St. Rita Parish in Harahan; and there you could always find her in the small pews on the Imperial Woods side for 7:30 mass on Sunday mornings. For this reason, her children have decided to honor her faith by bringing her back to the church. Since GiGi would always pray to St. Therese (The Little Flower) in times of loss, we would like to share this prayer for her: Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, the Little Flower, please pick me a Rose from the heavenly garden and send it to me with a message of love. O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favor I now implore, and tell Him that I will love Him each day more and more. Saint Therese, help me to always believe as you did, in God's great love for me, so that I might imitate your "Little Way" each day. Amen. There will no visitation, GiGi wanted a simple goodbye. But there will be a Mass held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rita Church in Harahan, 7100 Jefferson Highway, Harahan, LA 70123. Please do not send flowers, as she enjoyed many in her long life. Donations to St. Clare's Monastery, 720 Henry Clay Avenue, New Orleans LA 70118 in her honor would be her wish.
