Marie Spano Herty

Marie Spano Herty, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on January 4, 2017, after a strong-willed battle with a long term illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggles and ultimately gave her peace. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Earl Charles Herty; her beloved sisters Gaetana Polito, Lois Guste, JeanAnn Prange, Kathleen Russo and beloved brother Joseph Spano. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her; brother, Anthony Spano, loving daughters and devoted son-in-laws; Rose (Rorie) Orgeron, Susan (Richard) Frederickson, Janet (Tommy) Guthrie her Grandchildren Rorie Joseph Jr., Brad Charles (Leslie), Natalie Rose (Andy), Jenny Susanne (Matthew), Pamela Sue and Great-Grandchildren Emily Rose, Kaley Elizabeth, Benjamin Wayne, Alexander Joseph, Charles Xavier, Evie Marie, Everett Charles, Nora Rose and many nieces and nephews and friends. Marie was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area where she graduated from St. Stephens High School in New Orleans, La. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Church in Terrytown, La. for the past 41 years. Marie was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She made her grandchildren her life and spent plenty of her time with them and always instilled the importance of family, loving one another, and keeping God in their lives. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who honor her memory and celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Lord and Savior. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, January 9, 2017, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Rd., Terrytown, Louisiana.
