Marion Saragusa Gaspard

Marion Saragusa Gaspard, age 87 of Madisonville, passed away peacefully in Covington, LA on May 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was a native New Orleanian, born and raised in the French Quarter during the Great Depression by parents of Italian descent. Marion devoted her life to her three children, Marie Summers, Sandra Healy (Denny) and Danny Gaspard (Carolyn); six grandchildren, Brigitte, Brittany, Bradley, Ashley, Nickie and Troy; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Emma, Cohen, Marissa, Melanie, Samuel, and Olivia. She is survived by her longtime companion, Charles North, Jr. Marion was preceded in death by her former husband, Melvin Gaspard; her mother, Marion Saragusa; her father, Anthony Saragusa; and two brothers, Vincent and Roy. Mom always took pride in her Sunday family dinner gatherings, especially when serving her famous meatballs and spaghetti! Her competitive nature was admired by those who knew her, evident in the many Jamaican dancing awards she received and ultimately promoted to dance instructor. She cherished traveling with her family and friends which included many activities like zip lining at the young age of 81! Mom/MawMaw/GiGi will be affectionately remembered and missed dearly by all who shared her life. In lieu of flowers, and because of her great love of children and animals, donations in honor of Marion Gaspard may be made to her favorite charities: St Jude's Children Research Institute (stjude.org) and Northshore Humane Society (northshorehumane.org). Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 10:00AM until service time. Interment will follow the service in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana. E.J.
