Marion LaNasa Obituary

Marion Anthony LaNasa, Jr. passed away on June 28, 2023 at the age of 70. He was born on March 26, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Dr. Marion Anthony LaNasa, Sr. and Gloria Riso LaNasa. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School, Tulane University, and University of Texas, Austin. On July 25, 1992, he married Donna Buss LaNasa at St. Pius X Catholic Church where they remained long-standing parishioners. They were married for 30 years and had two children: Marion Robert LaNasa and Alexandra Glynn LaNasa. He was employed by Lockheed Martin Space Systems for over 30 years. His professional career brought him many achievements including Lockheed Martin Communicator of the Year, Rotary National Award for Space Achievement, President of the New Orleans Chapter of the Public Relation Society, and published articles in Communications Arts, New Orleans, and Southwest Airlines Magazines, New Orleans Times Picayune, and United Press International. In retirement, he became most known for his upcycled art. He is survived by: his wife, Donna Buss LaNasa, his son, Marion Robert LaNasa, his daughter, Alexandra Glynn LaNasa; his brother, Dr. Anthony Vincent LaNasa (Terry Sue); his sisters, Marietta Eileen Ascani-DeSilva (Robert), Gloria LaNasa Azzarello (Joseph), and Dr. Elaine LaNasa Yuratich (Bubby); his mother- and father-in-law, Robert Nelson and Alice Chapman Buss; his sister-in-law, Jenirose Buss, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation and gallery viewing of his art will be on held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 5-9 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. On Thursday, July 6, 2023, a formal visitation with Rosary will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the memorial mass at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, there will be an interment at the LaNasa family tomb.
