She married Edgar Allan Smuck on March 2, 1946. Marion graduated from Eleanor McMain High School and Joseph A Maybin Business College. She worked for the Orleans Parish School Board and then the State Board of Education in Vocational Rehabilitation. She loved singing from the time she was 10 and continued for seventy years in many choirs and choruses everywhere she lived. A big memory was singing for the Pope in the choir during the Mass when he came to New Orleans. She had a long and wonderful life: raised 6 children, worked in the Vatican Pavilion in the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans, was an active member's wife in the Sugar Bowl, and was married for 49 years to Edgar Allan Smuck. Another of her highlights was that she rode in a hot air balloon in her late 60's piloted by her son, David Smuck. She lived in New Orleans, Austin, TX, Hutchinson, KS, Omaha, NE, Andover, KS and last but not least, the Body of Christ, Corpus Christi, TX. Taking part in school activities with her children kept her busy as did the many clubs and functions she was in over the years. After she and her husband, Allan, moved to different states for his job, (New Orleans, Austin, TX, Hutchinson, KS, Omaha, NE, they retired and went back home to New Orleans, LA in 1972. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, Marion went to live with her daughter, Carole and son-in-law, Sam, in Andover, KS and then moved with them to Corpus Christi, TX in May 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Clara Maier; her husband, Edgar Allan Smuck, 1995; her daughter, Marion Allane Smuck, 1955; and Edwin M and Patricia Maier, her brother and his wife. She is survived by her children; David (Paula) Smuck, Carole (Samuel) Durch, J. Steven R (Viviana) Smuck, Marion Geralyn, "Gerry" (William, "Buddy") McCaffery, Richard Allan Smuck and Edgar Allan (Charlene) Smuck, Jr., her stepson. She is also survived by, George Maier and Robert Maier, her cousins. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
