Marisa Ann Turner-Byrd at the age of 29 passed away on Monday, April 02, 2018 in La Place, LA. Devoted wife of Alfred Byrd, III. Loving mother of Malaya Ann Byrd. Daughter of Elaine Turner-Bates and Ernest V. Vaughn. Stepdaughter of Levi Bates, Jr. (Shannon) whom he raised from a baby. Sister of Chelsea Paige Bates and Cameron T. Bates both of La Place, LA. and Tokeysha Jackson of Birmingham, AL. Daughter-in-law of Sadie Williams and Oscar Pickens. Sister-in-law of Joy Byrd (Percy) Warren. Granddaughter of Joseph Turner, Jr., Levi & Georgine Bates, Sr., Lottie Vaughn, and Emma Byrd. Niece of Geraldine Bates, Evelyn Bates (Mark) Wegener, Shauna Jones-Williams, Sharon L. Vaughn of Birmingham, AL., Julian (Letha) Major, John (Teresa), and Walter Vaugh of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives and good friends. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Mary Ann Turner, paternal grandfathers Reverend Ernest Vaughn, Sr. and Alfred Byrd, Sr. and uncle Corey Bates.
