Mark Franklin Obituary

Mark A. Franklin, age 67, of Covington, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was born on October 27, 1956, in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Coleman and Edna Mae Guilbault Franklin. He is survived by his siblings, Margaret "MiMi" Franklin Arnoult (Charles), Catherine "Katie" Franklin Abboud (Chip), Thomas C. "Tom" Franklin, Jr. (Sue), Roberta "Bobbie" Franklin Foret (Gary), Maureen Franklin Larsen (Charles Conques), and Diane Franklin Dubroc (Lenny) and 14 nieces and nephews: Alan and Kevin Abboud, Olivia, Amy and Sarah Franklin, Jennifer, Jamie, Jacqueline and Jason Foret, Jessica and Daniel Larsen, Trey, Gabrielle and Michaela Dubroc, and many extended family members and friends. Mark was the 5th child of seven of Edna and Coleman Franklin. As a child Mark lived in many places in the world before the family moved to Metairie, Louisiana. His father was career military, having served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. In 1964, the Colonel went to Vietnam and Mom and their 7 kids moved to Metairie from Ft. Hood, Texas. Mark attended St. Philip Neri, Archbishop Rummel High School, East Jefferson High School and graduated college from University of Louisiana Lafayette with a degree in Finance. Mark enjoyed his career in sales and sales management, with his last employer of 26 years Andritz Group, a provider of process technologies and equipment. He was a consummate professional and loved and respected by his co-workers. Mark, although a very private person, was very loving! His personal life revolved around his family, and his 14 nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly! He also loved playing golf, especially with his brother and friends and family. He will be missed by all and we are sure he will be enjoying many great rounds of golf with Mom and Dad. We are confident Jesus, Mom and Dad and all of the saints who went before him, welcomed him with open arms! It is my great honor to share this message. Love you my brother, Tom. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Franklin may be made to National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org). Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. Mass. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, 3421 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, is honored to be entrusted with Mr. Franklin's funeral arrangements. Sending my condolences to all. I always liked Mark. Even had a crush on him at a very young age. I have fond memories of playing football & baseball in the street where Verna meets Arlene. So sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace with all who have gone before us.

Mark & I were classmates at St. Philip Neri. He went to Rummel High School & I went to Delasalle. We didn't see each other for many years, but reconnected while he was at Enterprise. I want to pass along my condolences to the entire Franklin family, especially Mimi & Charlie. I will keep you & Mark in my prayers.
