Martha Warner Mitchell Obituary

Martha Louise Warner Mitchell, affectionately known as "Cookie," peacefully passed away in Houston, Texas, on March 5, 2024 after bravely facing a three-year battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. Her final days and moments were spent surrounded by both of her daughters and her dear friend Eva Hera. Cookie is survived by her loving daughters, Alyson Warner Mitchell and Sarah Elizabeth Leonhardt Mitchell Butler, her son-in-law, Geoffrey Butler, and her cherished grandson, William David Butler. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, John Hilton Warner, sister-in-law, Peggy Warner, and her dear feline companion of 17 years, Toulouse Wong, better known by loved ones as "Mr. Wong." She is now reunited in eternal peace with her parents, John Albion Warner and Martha Elizabeth Bourke Warner, and her sister, Mathilde Elizabeth Warner. Cookie's infectious sense of humor and boundless love for her friends will be dearly missed. Cookie had a remarkable ability to find levity in unexpected places, turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories filled with laughter. Her passions included Burmese cats, animal welfare, and a deep cultural identity as a proud New Orleanian. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Eva Hera for her unwavering support and care during Cookie's challenging battle with cancer. Eva's selfless dedication provided comfort and assistance, ensuring Cookie received the best possible care. Her kindness, empathy, and gentle presence were pillars of strength throughout this journey, and her friendship will be forever cherished. To honor Cookie's life, a private family memorial service will be held in New Orleans at a location deeply meaningful to her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) in memory of Cookie Mitchell, reflecting her profound love for cats.
