Martin Brenckle Obituary

Martin Frank Brenckle, Jr., born April 16, 1935, a life-long resident of the Greater New Orleans area passed away at his home on September 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving children. Marty attended Warren Easton High School where he was an outstanding athlete lettering in football, baseball, basketball, and track all four years. He retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and worked as a mutual clerk at the Fairgrounds. A former member of the Knights of Columbus Gentilly Council, Diamond Club of Greater New Orleans, Veteran Umpire Association of New Orleans, and Krewe of Endymion. He is the beloved husband of the late Annye Ivy Brenckle, son of the late Martin Frank Brenckle, Sr., and Josephine Mangiaracina Brenckle. Marty is survived by his four children Ivy Rohr, (George), Walter Brenckle (Cheri), Carla Brenckle and Michael Brenckle. Grandfather of Joshua Brenckle (Rebecca), Michael Brenckle II, George Rohr III and three great-grandchildren Kailyn, Eleanor, and Theodore Brenckle. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Church & National Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Drive, Metairie, La., 70006. Msgr. Christopher Nalty will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery, 120 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, La. 70124.

Sorry to hear about Marty. My mother,now deceased, and I worked at the Corps when Marty was there. He was a great individual. It was a pleasure working and knowing Marty. Jerry Gogreve, son of Laura Gogreve.
