Mary Boudreaux Obituary

BOUDREAUX Mary Margaret "Nan" Verlander Boudreaux, age 88, passed away on Saturday, April 3. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.O. "Buddy" Boudreaux; son Morris; parents, David E. Verlander, Sr. and Mary Walter Verlander; and siblings, Elmore Verlander, Sr. (Amelie), and Richard Verlander (Ethelyn). She is survived by her brother David E. "Pete" Verlander, Jr. (Allie); her nieces and nephews, Lynn Verlander Ralston (Wesley), Richard Verlander, Jr. (Kevin), Elmore Verlander, Jr., Leo Verlander (Kolleen), David Verlander III (Julie), Glese Ann Verlander, Jill Verlander Reed (Kenny), Peter C. Verlander (Wendy), Paul J. Verlander (Ann), Margaret Verlander Vanchiere (John); a host of devoted grand nieces and nephews; and her wonderful neighbors on Belmont Place. Nan served for many years as a special education teacher, work that typified her caring and loving nature. She was a true New Orleans lady, unfailingly elegant, mannered, and kind; and she embraced life joyfully and independently until the very day of her passing. Her quiet and unassuming faith saw her through the tragedies of her life and made her a beacon of love and hope for all whose lives she touched. "Nan" was a remarkable lady, and she will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Visitation will be at St. Benilde Catholic Church, 1901 Division St., Metairie, at 8:30 am, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 am. Interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Information: 504-486-6331. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Little Sisters of the Poor or St. Benilde Parish.

I have wonderful memories of her visits to Maryland. Mary Margaret stories have always surfaced during our monthly card game night, where Claire will often serve tasty treats on a porcelain hand painted by Mary Margaret. We will keep that tradition!

I will miss Belmont Place. I have lots of wonderful memories over the many years of visiting. I am grateful I could come down to pay my respects and get a chance to see my wonderful family again.
