Mary Catherine Arnold Toups

TOUPS Mary Catherine Arnold Toups was quietly called to her eternal home on October 1, 2008. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 4, 2008, in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, La. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emile Charles Toups, Sr. and her parents, John G. Arnold, PhD. and Marion O'Loughlin Arnold. She is survived by her seven loving children, Dr. Kathleen Toups (Dr. Dorian Liepmann) of Lafayette, CA, Mary Margaret "Peggy" Redd (Perry Peltier) of Lafayette, LA, Jeanne M. Trahan of Lafayette, LA., Susan M. Comeaux of Houston, TX., Emile "Chuck" Toups, Jr. of Kingswood, TX, Michele M. Mata (Randy Mata) of Lafayette, LA., Mary Beth Fangman (Dennis Fangman) of Peyton, CO., Dana Barron Toups, and one sister, Joan Arnold Keller (Dr. Gerald C. Keller) of Mandeville, LA., and sixteen grandchildren; Colin Liepman, Meghan Redd, Nicholas Peltier, Gabriel McCassey, Rachel, Rebecca and Elizabeth Trahan, Courtney and Kerry "K.C.", Comeaux, Danielle, Lauren and Aaron Toups, Joshua, Jacob, and Jordan Mata, and Megan Fangman. Mary was 71 years old, a native of New Orleans and a long time resident of Lafayette, La. She graduated from Holy Name of Jesus High School in New Orleans in 1954 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology in 1958. She worked in Charity Hospital in New Orleans and various laboratories in the Acadiana area. Mary was a volunteer for the American Bone Marrow Donor Registry and an associate member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She participated in multiple volunteer and community organizations, including Lafayette Jaycees-Jaynes, Beavers' Club Auxiliary, and Concerned Citizens for Good Government. Mary Toups will be best remembered as a devoted Christian, a loving wife, caring mother, special "Nana", trusted sister, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all.
