Michael Brelet Obituary

Michael Chris Brelet passed away on January 30, 2024 at the age of 63. Mike was born on October 10, 1960 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mike married Pamela Elstrott Brelet on May 7, 1988. The two were each other's lifelong companions and the best of friends for the past 35 years. Mike attended St Rose of Lima, Brother Martin High School and the University of New Orleans where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. For 32 years, Mike worked for Ford Motor Credit Co. He retired as a Dealer Service Representative from Ford Motor Credit on December 31, 2020. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Maria Brelet LeBlanc and Father-in-law, Jacob John Elstrott Jr. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Elstrott Brelet; his parents, Clayton and Eleanor Brelet; his sister, Melanie Brelet Lupo (Darrell); his in-laws; Juanita Elstrott, Sandra Elstrott Robichaux (Randy), Randy Elstrott (Kathy); his nieces and nephews; Aimee Soignier (Shane), Angele Munster (Eddie), Krystal Gallardo (Rory), Risa Williams (Chris), Joshua Lupo (Catherine), Andree Senia (Damon), Lindsay Laigast (Seth), Nicholas Elstrott, Jordan LeBlanc (Leigh), Caleb Lupo; his great-nieces and nephews, (who know him as Uncle Cool); Jacob Soignier; Cayden, Keegan, & Kyler Munster; McKenzie, Elijah, Olivia & Lyla Gallardo; Baby Williams; Ella, Isaac, Benjamin & Camille Lupo; Ember Senia; Aubrey, Addison & Baby Laigast and his fur babies; Lilly and Darby. Mike was very active in numerous sport activities especially golf, working out and his new found love for the sport of pickleball. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and pups. Mike's heart for animals was apparent to everyone who knew him; one of his top priorities was his love for and dedication to his dogs. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time at his beach condo. One of his favorite past times was drinking his home-made margaritas on the "lanai' with his wife, family and friends! No one turned down one of Mike's margaritas in his backyard Margaritaville. Mike is known for his generous and giving spirit. He touched many lives with his desire to help others. Mike's smile lit up a room and will never be forgotten. He will always be remembered as a fun-loving, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. Until we're together again, enjoy your cheese burger in paradise. "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." -Matthew 6:19-21.

Such a special guy. When I was retiring from Ford Credit, he called me and let me know how much he thought of me as a friend and mentor. From an outstanding co-worker, to a good friend and all around great person, he will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the many friends he made over the years.

Pam, I´m so sorry to hear about Mike! I saw him at the luncheon in August and he gave me the sweetest compliment about his first day at Ford and how I handled his paperwork and explained things to him. Such a pleasure working with him in the early years at Ford.

I met Mike at FMCC. He was my supervisor for a little while. He got along well with everyone. He had a sunny disposition. We all joked around a lot. He was a great guy. His love for the Lord showed in his l devotion to God, his beautiful wife, his family and friends. Sending my deepest sympathy to you Pam and his parents as you bare your grief. May the suppernatural Peace of the Christ fill your mind in those darkest times.
