Michael desBordes Obituary

desBORDES Michael desBordes returned to his Creator on Thursday, January 27, 2011, age 63 years. He was preceeded in death by his parents: Dr. Lee H. and Orient Wild des-Bordes; was the loving and beloved husband of Mary Salassi desBordes, brother of Julie (Joseph) desBordes Thompson, Hank (Polly) desBordes, Peter (Maria) des-Bordes, and Denise (David) desBordes Lindsey. He is survived also by a host of loving nieces and nephews, and companion cats Ouiseau, Ti Boo and Cash. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Hammond, LA for the last six years, Mike was a truly good man with a curious mind who enjoyed cooking, reading, and learning new things. He attended De La Salle High School, LSU and UNO, and served in the U.S. Naval Air Force for eight years, flying as a communicator. Mike was a Master Gardener in Tangipahoa Parish, and made friends everywhere he went. Special thanks to those who cared for Mike at North Oaks Hospital and Generations Hospice, and for the doctors who treated him with compassion and respect. My heart goes out to you, Mary, and to the family. Although I haven't had contact with Michael since our High School/Colleg years, I'll always remember him as such a great guy. I'll always cherish all those fun-filled years with our Lakeview friends as very special. The world will miss him.
