Michael Robichaux Obituary

Michael O'Brien Robichaux, 51, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Rose O'Brien Robichaux; father, Alfred Joseph "Cookie" Robichaux; stepfather, Errol Thomas Michell; maternal grandparents, Isabelle Huyghe O'Brien and Lawrence J. O'Brien and fraternal grandparents, Agnes Marie Estopinal Torres and Albert Robichaux. He is survived and fondly remembered by his sister, Michelle Carter (Thad); a sister-in-law, Jodi Carter Hoffmann (Eric); two nephews, Blake Carter and Grant Carter; two nieces, Alexandra Carter and Jaycelin Higginbotham (Jeremy); two cousins, Lori Heaphy (Alden) and Bret McCabe (Christine, deceased) and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Michael was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Metairie before relocating to East Baton Rouge Parish following Hurricane Katrina. Michael attended public schools in Jefferson Parish, including East Jefferson High School where he finished. In his teenage years and early adulthood, Michael worked for Manpower and Goodwill Industries. He played baseball for Pilney Little League in his youth, and he was a pro with karate sparring and his nunchucks as a teenager. Michael was an avid hard rock and heavy metal lover who thoroughly enjoyed jamming out with his CD's and sharing details of the bands with fellow friends. He often enjoyed sharing a Coke and a smile while catching up with family and friends. Every acquaintance easily became a good friend with whom he greeted with a great big bear hug, a handshake or a dap of an elbow. Michael was known for his huge smiles and lots of giggles and laughter that was infectious to many. He will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation to be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10 am-11 am, followed by a memorial service beginning at 11am. Michael will be laid to rest with his beloved mother in Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, New Orleans, LA. The family expresses its gratitude for those who helped care for Michael throughout the years, particularly Leading Health Care (formerly, Absolute Care Providers) and Holistic Health Care Services. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes prayers and donations to Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, or Child Mind Institute.
