Mildred Campbell Obituary
Mildred Olive Webb Campbell, died January 9, 2023 in an Ecuadorian city in the Andes. It was a calm, relaxed, beautiful passing during a prayer to Jesus Christ guided by Janis Ciuba Danner, to a peaceful and clear state where her consciousness met the unknowable. Her daughter, Delery was at her side for this transformative experience. Olive Webb Campbell, was 87 when she departed her final journey. Delery was honored and humbled by this spiritual experience. Pneumonia, Lewy-body dementia and cancer were the combined diseases she died of. The outstanding care and sunny-bright staff at Centro Gerontological of San Joaquin, Banos de Agua Santa, Tungurahua, Ecuador worked with her during her initial decline; then she was moved to Hospital General Docente Ambato where the outstanding Palliative Care doctors wrapped her in caring love. Olive was born May 1, 1935 at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from Isidore Newman School, attended Sophie Newcomb College, graduated from the University of New Orleans, continued in graduate studies at Tulane University and the University of New Orleans. She lived a life well and full of travel to the far corners of the world. Once she fell off a boat into the waters of the Nile. Some say she "swam the Nile". She lead the family, her young children, to ancient tombs in Mexico, and did graduate studies on digs at Poverty Point, Louisiana. In her eighth decade she studied with the Episcopal Church to teach adult education. She loved the Newman luncheons festively held at New Orleans restaurants. She was the kind of mother who would not allow her children to watch television, especially cowboy and Indian shows where the American Indian was mistreated. She was loved dearly and will be missed by her children and extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Argyll Campbell; her first husband, Stanley Robinson Snider, Jr.; her most precious son, Stanley Robinson Snider, III; her sisters, Elise Webb Fritchie and Linda Webb; her dear cousin Pam Biles Wheeler; and her parents, Nelly Mildred Milburn Webb and Victor Wilson Webb. Survived by her daughters: Delery Milburn Vickery (James) of Ecuador, S.A.; Elise Marie Marble of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, USA; and her first cousins, Leodocia Milburn Pope and James Ferguson Milburn of Bunkie, Louisiana; Murelise Biles Trimble (James) of Alexandria, Louisiana; and grandchildren Justin Robinson Smith, Leigh Marie LeMay, Erin Elizabeth Stepp (Dan), Kyle Robinson Marble, Casarina Cloud Alsobrook, James Cosmos Vickery, Caleb Kahil Vickery (Juliana), Yvonne Alesia Cappel-Vickery, and eleven great grandchildren. Her two cat children, Nelly and Jamie were kindly adopted by Lauren Rooney, the Cat Whisperer. Olive is loved by her many dear friends that are still living to include Andrea Collins Ducros, Lynne Gardner Owens, Marilyn Schweickhardt Reel, Margaret Celli Tamberella, Virginia Lynne Decker and Grace Williams. The family will arrange a celebration of her life in Bunkie, Louisiana soon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Annunciation Episcopal Church, New Orleans, Louisiana.
