Mildred Smith Obituary

Nov. 25, 1934 - Nov. 3, 2017

Millie joined her heavenly family November 3, 2017. She is filled with joy and laughter forever more.

Born in Archer, Nebraska, November 25, 1934. In the early 1940's, her family moved to Lebanon. She attended Queen Anne Elementary and was the class of 1953 from the Lebanon High School.

She married Eugene Smith her senior year, December 27, 1952. God blessed them with five children. Their marriage ended in 1981.

Millie retired from Oregon State University after 22 years in the Communication Media Center. She enjoyed retirement until her Alzheimer's and stroke ten years ago. She spent the last ten years in the loving care of Avamere Rehab.

She is survived by one brother, Earl Hummel. Five children, Cheryl Laswell, David Smith, Michael Smith, Brenda McCauley, and Matthew Smith. She leaves five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Anthony G. Hummel and Fern E. Hummel, and two brothers, Anthony W. Hummel and Ralph Hummel.

Viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 9 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 10 at the funeral home with burial following at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association sent in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, OR 97355.
