Nedra Wittwer Obituary

Nedra Leavitt Wittwer, 85 of Mesquite, NV, (which is where she always considered home), passed away on December 22, 2017, of natural causes. She lived with her children in Grantsville, UT and Saragota Springs,UT for the last 4 years.
Nedra was born March 5, 1932 to Leonard Fay Leavitt and Lenora Sylvester. She graduated from Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite, NV. She received a one year scholarship in Home Economics to Cedar City Utah College. At the end of the year she was chosen as the most outstanding Home Economics student in the department.
She married Gerald Merl Wittwer of Bunkerville, NV, on September 8, 1951 in the St. George LDS Temple. They were married for 59 years. Gerald was her high school sweetheart. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Nedra was a mother and homemaker while her children were growing up. She enjoyed making her home a comfortable place for both her family and all who visited. She enjoyed decorating and knew how to make a house a home.
After her children got older, she returned to school to become a cosmetologist. She was known to be a wonderful hair stylist. For many years she had a salon in her home so that she could work and still be in her home with her family.
Nedra and Gerald were blessed to travel to many wonderful places during their life together. By saving and planning carefully they were able to travel to South America, Israel, 11 different countries in Europe, and many of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. They always managed to take their family on a fun family vacation yearly, even if it was just camping.
Nedra is survived by her four children Bryan (Barb) of Grantsville, UT; Terri Schmidt (Dave) of Saratoga Springs, UT; Rohn (Sherry) of Visalia, CA; & Eric (Jacqueline) of Shelley, ID. She has 29 amazing grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, and 3 sisters LaFaye Lee, Caroline Sommers, & Claire Crowther.
Nedra is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, her parents, and one sister, Peggy Adams.
Nedra's interests and talents include cooking (including making up her own recipes), flower arranging, travel (especially with Gerald), reading, sewing and cake decorating.
Nedra is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has served faithfully in many callings in the church and has learned and grown from each one. She has a firm testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. The last few months of her life were dedicated to making certain her testimony of her Savior was recorded in a published book for her posterity. It was vitally important to her that her family always know and understand that the gospel of Jesus Christ was the most important thing in her life, and because of that, her family was so important. It was her final wish that all of her family know that she wants to be together with all of them throughout the eternities. As her days were drawing to a close she anxiously awaited meeting those who had gone on before her, especially her dear husband, Gerald.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, at 11:00 am with a viewing from 10-10:45 at the Grantsville 4th Ward Chapel (428 South Hale Street, Grantsville, UT).
Burial will take place at the Bunkerville, NV, cemetery on Friday, December 29 with a graveside service at 12:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Broomhead Funeral Home.
The family wishes to thank the loving and compassionate care given by Rocky Mountain Hospice in both Tooele and Utah County. They have truly been angels in the service they tenderly provided.

Love you Aunt Nedra and you will be missed. Thank heavens for the teachings of the gospel. If it weren't for that, it would be a lot harder knowing that you passed. Since we know you are just on the other side of the veil and that we do get to see our loved ones again, we know this isn't really a goodbye but a till we meet again moment in our lives. Give everyone a hug, especially my brother Joey Parsons and niece Daphne Wellman. You were a light on this side and that will be missed, but at least our loved ones are lucky enough to be with you again. Love, Jen XOXOXO
