Rev. Nelson H. Waits Sr.

Rev. Nelson H. Waits, Sr. entered eternity with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the age of 88. He was native of NOLA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Rev. Waits was the pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church of Avondale, LA and retired after 18 years of preaching God's word. Beloved husband of 43 years to the late Marguerette Carr Waits. Loving and devoted father of Nelson (Gwen) Waits, Jr., Carl G. Waits, Sr., Karen Waits, Julian (Molly) Waits, Sr. and the late Rodney C. Waits, and Cheramie Louper. Grandfather of the late Craig and Nelson H. Waits, III. Son of the late Charles Waits, Florence Cage and Albert Cage. Brother of Carol (Andrew) Bowser; also survived by 20 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, 2 aunts, 4 godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Little Zion Baptist Church, Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Second St. John Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; members of Westside Missionary Baptist Association, NAACP and SCLC are invited to attend the Wake Service at Little Zion Baptist Church, 433 Avondale Garden Rd.
