Nettie Lagarde Hogan

HOGAN Nettie Lagarde Hogan entered eternal life on Friday, August 9, 2012 at the age of 94. Nettie was reunited in Heaven with her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Wilfred Hogan. She was a born in Gibson, LA to her parents the late Esau and Clara Sims Fenton Lagarde and spent most of her life as a resident of New Orleans, LA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Wade. Nettie was a graduate of Xavier University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She also obtained a Masters of Arts Degree from Columbia University Teacher's College in New York City. Upon her graduation from Xavier University she became a teacher in the Orleans parish School system where she worked tirelessly educating thousands of students for over thirty-four years. She was an active member of Louisiana Retired Teachers and the O.G.G. Club. Nettie will be remembered for her devotion to her family friends and for her caring and affectionate presence. She leaves to cherish her memories her nieces Helen Esco Perkins & Carol Lynn Perkins of Los Angeles, CA, Mary V. Hogan, her great niece, Jevon Hogan Williams, her great nephew, Kavin R. Hogan and her god-son, Weldon H. Jamison, Jr of New Orleans, LA and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives, friends, church members, former students and co-workers are invited to attend the Funeral Services at St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 2538 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Lewis Jones officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery New Orleans, LA.
