Patricia Garvey

Patricia Gerardine Murphy Garvey passed away peacefully the evening of April 6, 2017, at the age of 87 years. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the fourth of eight children and attended The Redemptorist High School (Third & Prytania). Patsy married Richard J. (Dick) Garvey on April 30, 1955 at St. Mary's Assumption Church, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together before his passing in October of 2015. Patsy is survived by her children Geralyn, Rickey (Kim), Marianne (Andre Olivier), Pattie (David Johnston), and Paul (Jennifer), ten grandchildren Richard J. Garvey, III, Allison Garvey, Theodore Garvey, Lillian Johnston, Thomas Johnston, Garvey Johnston, Jack Garvey, Mary Cate Garvey, Meg Garvey and Patrick Garvey, and her siblings James G. Murphy and William J. Murphy, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Patsy was predeceased by her parents Cecil John Murphy and Lillian Curry Murphy, and siblings Barbara Rizzo, Bernadette Murphy, Marie Nelson, Kathleen (Kitty) Garvey, and Cecil J. Murphy, Jr. The family would like to thank Martha Samayoa for her companionship and care for Patsy during the past two years. A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary's Assumption Church, 2030 Constance St., New Orleans, LA 70130 on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11:00 AM.
