Peter W. Bayhi SJ

1934 - 2021

Father W. Peter Bayhi, SJ, died Nov. 10, 2021, in St. Louis. He was 87 years old, a Jesuit for 68 years and a priest for 55 years. Born in New Orleans on Aug. 9, 1934, he is predeceased by his parents, Henry Peter and Sophia Marie Carriere Bayhi, and his brother, Henry Joseph Bayhi. He is survived by his sister, Norma Duffy and niece, Susan Duffy-Diaz. Fr. Bayhi taught in Jesuit schools in New Orleans, Dallas, the Bronx and Chicago, and worked in pastoral ministry in Houston, New Orleans and Dallas. He also directed retreats and provided spiritual direction at Jesuit Spirituality Center in Grand Coteau in Grand Coteau, La., and at Manresa Retreat House in Convent, La. Services: Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in Jesuit Hall in St. Louis. Burial afterward at Calvary Cemetery. The Mass will be livestreamed on YouTube.com.
