Ralph Brown Obituary

In loving memory of Ralph Wilfred Brown, a retired welder, who unexpectedly passed away last Thursday, November 16th, 2023, at Ochsner Hospital after battling Lung Cancer. He was 71 years old. Born in the 9th ward, Ralph spent most of his cherished childhood in Avondale, Louisiana. Later, he moved uptown and established a home there for the remainder of his life. Ralph proudly graduated from West Jefferson High School, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey. Shortly after graduating, he embarked on a fulfilling career in welding. Ralph attended welding school, showcasing a passion that would define the next 45 years of his life. His dedication and skill were evident in his work, notably contributing to the success of Avondale Shipyards, among others. He is preceded in death by his parents Virginia and Edward N. Brown, brothers Kenneth C. Brown, Edward C. Brown, and Malcom Brown. Ralph's memory will forever live on through the hearts of his surviving loved ones, including his sister Edwina Brown and brother Lewis S. Brown. His devoted wife, Valerie Ann-Lee Brown, his two daughters, Christine L. Brown and Clarissa M. Brown, and a son in law Maurice Matthews. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Breion Russell, Ireion Carter, Miracle Matthews, and Daryan Brown, and a host of relatives and friends. Professional Funeral Services will be overseeing the arrangements to honor the life of Ralph Wilfred Brown. May he rest in peace.
