Gregg Mace (Mees)
September 20, 2016
Hello Cousins and friends of Renee,
I answered Ernst Glindmeyer's request below to contact him in Germany at [email protected] and had the most delightful chat which made it feel like Renee was with us during the conversation. I could almost hear the low lick of her tapping on her "Saint's football ring" with her forefinger's happily painted fingernail :)
Then it just dawned on me that Renee had such a passion for genealogy and wealth of knowledge and contacts. So maybe the best way to remember and honor Renee is to make contact with each other. A "Renee genealogy family contact board" of sorts on this condolence site. I think she'd like this site to be a happy productive site in some way.
So since Ernst Glindmeyer has introduced himself below as one of Renee's cousins and research buddy's from Germany at [email protected].
I will introduce myself as Gregg Mace (spelled Mees in German but anglicized to the way it is pronounced as Mace since we emigrated from Lachen Speyerdorf in the Palatinate of Germany to New Orleans in about 1833). I've traced the Mees back to 1640 in Germany through to present.
The Mees and Glindmeyer families intermarried in about the 1890s in New Orleans. Renee is buried in her Glindmeyer family tomb right across from the original Mees tomb which is in the wall of the cemetery built in the 1830s.
You can contact me at [email protected] should you want to chat about Renee or genealogy or both as they are inseparable :)
Or you can contact me through the contact button below on this message.
Take care fellow Cousins and friends of Renee :)
With love, Cousin Gregg

Love from Ted & Liz Mace :)

I am so very sorry to hear of Renee's passing! My thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends. Renee was a warm, giving person who taught me a lot about genealogy-----and always went above and beyond what she needed to do. She even kept in touch after I finished her class. Thank you, Renee!! Your kindness, generosity, and expertise will be missed!!!
