Richard Jaeger Obituary

JAEGER Richard Louis Jaeger, lifelong resident of Metairie, died on February 27, 2008. He was the loving and devoted husband of Sidonia Bucher Jaeger. Son of the late Elizabeth Hahn and Alfred L. Jaeger and brother of the late Lilly Krackauer, Eugene Jaeger, Sr., Helen Young, Rose Smith, Louise LeBlanc, Philip Jaeger, Violet Blache, Rita Salassi, and Ralph Jaeger. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Frank Bucher, sister-in-law Margie Bucher and many loving nieces and nephews. He graduated from Metairie High School and completed four years of Tulane Architectural College. He served in the United States Navy in WWII in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He retired from the United States Customs Service as Chief Supervisory Customs Inspector and designed the Customs facilities at Armstrong Airport, which have been duplicated nationwide. He was a devout Catholic and was known to always put others first. He was a member of the Rosary and Altar Societies of St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd. in Metairie, with visitation at 10:30 a.m., on Friday February 29th, followed by a Celebration of the Eucharist at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Masses are preferred, in lieu of flowers. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
