What a great guy and principal. Even though, I was only at Mandeville Jr. High for one year before going to the new jr. high, Mr. Sylvest was a great educator. My condolences to the family.

I will never forget Dickie. He took me under his wings my freshmen year at Louisiana College. There were many days he gave me council on how to be a college basketball player. His suggestions were right on. I will miss his warm smile and friendship.
May You Rest in Eternal Peace. Your friend.

My sincere condolences to the family. A great man is with our Hevenly Father. Coach S will never be forgotten for he IS the roots to our community. He gave his heart and soul to the families of Mandeville and has changed countless lives. He will always be my hero for he allowed me to see what I couldn't. He believed in me and for that I am an FOREVER changed; Not only as his student, but as a boss and mentor. Never underestimate the power of our Lord for he brought this man into our lives. Rest my friend. Smile and laugh for you did your job, you changed lives for the better. I thank you for being in my life and countless others.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He was one of the most amazing people I've ever met. Mr. Sylvest was the greatest principal with the most love to give every child he was around. I had the honor of knowing him as a family friend as well. The world has lost someone so incredible precious to us all. Soar high my friend. Your words of wisdom and love shine thru us all and you'll always be with each of us.
