Richard Williams Obituary

WILLIAMS Richard A. Williams WWII Army veteran, church trustee, 83 Richard A. Williams, 83, of Montclair, a decorated Army veteran of World War II, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008. The viewing will be held on Friday, Feb. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. and the home going service will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, both at Zion Holy Church, 103 Camden St., Newark. The interment is at Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside. For information, contact Jenkins Funeral Chapel, (212) 926-5979. Born in Virginia, Richard was the devoted husband of Agerene; father of Rita Williams-Bogar, Richard O. Williams and Rhonda Stuckey, and father-in-law of Lawrence K. Bogar, Patti Williams and Alan Stuckey. He also leaves to mourn his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Nickelson, Gertrude Armour-Hicks, Alice Williams and Josephine Barbee, and a brother, James. He was predeceased by a sister, Elder Rosa Greene, and brothers, Bishop Leonard R. Williams, Willie M. Williams and Herbert L. Williams. He leaves to mourn his church family, where he served as an ordained deacon, Sunday School superintendent and chairman of the trustee board of Zion Holy Church.
