Rick Skelding

Rick Skelding passed away on Sunday, March 21 with his loved ones at his side, aged 73 years old. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Judy Long Skelding and Jack Skelding Sr. He grew up in Clearwater, Florida, with his parents and brother, Jack Skelding Jr. He moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University and never left. He met the love of his life, Lynn Schlesinger Skelding, in 1968. They were married in 1970 and celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. The most important thing to him was his family. He is survived by his children, Laura Skelding (Mark Leutwyler) and Philip Skelding (Emily); grandchildren, Sumner Skelding, Ramona Skelding, Kai Leutwyler, Zola Skelding, Opal Skelding and June Leutwyler. He spent the majority of his career working as a commercial real estate broker at Stirling Properties. He was on the board of Partners in Art for several years at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Rick loved all of the culture of New Orleans. He loved all genres of music and performing arts, in particular opera, jazz and ballet. He enjoyed trying out new restaurants and wines. Gardening, reading and travel were other hobbies, along with exploring New Orleans by bike. A graveside service will be held at Metairie Cemetery on Friday, March 26 at 11 AM. All are welcome.
