Robert J. Montelius Sr.

1949 - 2022

Robert J. Montelius Sr., known to friends as 'White Bean' or 'Bean' was born on September 1, 1949 and passed peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 72 years young. After a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, he entered the gates of heaven in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his Wife and grandchildren. Robert was a lifelong resident of Gramercy, LA. He was also a lifelong employee of the local sugar refinery that operated under different managements, Colonial, Dixie Crystals, Imperial and now known as Louisiana Sugar Refinery, holding many different positions for over fifty four years. If he wasn't found at LSR, you could find him at the local establishment, Nobiles, bartending. He equally enjoyed visiting with those who visited the restaurant and serving his one-of-a-kind drinks. Bean was a 3rd degree lifetime member of KC 1817. Bean is survived by the love of his life Jacqueline (Jackie) Louque Montelius whom he spent his life with over 53 years. He is also survived by one daughter, Darsha Recotta. For those that know Bean, he is also survived by his many grandchildren whose relationships he cherished deeply-Dustin Montelius (Courtney), Darian Montelius (Alexis), Gina Recotta (Brenton), Dylan Recotta (Maegen), Gabby Keller (Cade), Mason Keller (Heather), Dawson Keller (Emma) and Bryson Keller. He is also survived by his Great Grandchildren, Chance Montelius and Parker Montelius. He is preceded in death by a son (Robert "Rob" Montelius Jr)., a daughter (Darcy Montelius Keller), a sister (Catherine Roussel) and mother (Ruby Haydel Montelius). Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral. A wake will be held at Rose Lynn Funeral Home, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, LA on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 616 E. Main St., Gramercy, LA on Monday, August 15, 2022. from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Paulina, LA.
