Roberta Gattuso Obituary

Roberta Mosher Gattuso entered into eternal rest into God's loving arms on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. She was born in New Orleans on July 2, 1946, to the late Roberta Schindeldecker Mosher and Fredrick G. Mosher, Sr. As a native of Harahan, Louisiana, Roberta attended St. Rita's Catholic School and St. Joseph's Academy on Canal Street. After graduating high school, Roberta attended the University of New Orleans and began working as a Legal Secretary. In 1970, she joined her husband in his law practice where she worked as a Notary Public. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She was a talented crochetier of blankets for family and friends and enjoyed gardening and spending time cooking large meals on Sundays. Roberta is preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Roberta Mosher; her grandparents George and Frances Schindeldecker; and her brother-in-law, Joseph Macaluso. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Philip Adolph Gattuso and her brother, Fredrick G. Mosher, Jr. She was the wonderful mother of Heather Lambert (Alex), Brad Gattuso (Patty), Meredith Balart (Truitt), Scott Gattuso (Julie), and Lesley Brown (Ben) and the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren: Emma, Bradley, and Adam Gattuso; Lillian, Truitt, and Caroline Balart; Eleanor, Henry, and Angelina Lambert; Adelaide, Amelie, and Luella Brown; and Lucus and Alyssa McDuffie. She is also survived by her godmother, Mary Frances Seals (Pete); her sisters-in-law, Grace Cantin (Ronnie) and Mattie Macaluso; and many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she adored. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses from West Jefferson Medical Center, Tulane Medical Center, Concerned Care Home Health, and St. Margaret's Hospice and care givers. Relatives and friends are invited to the public visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Interment will follow services and be held at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Luis A. Balart MD Memorial Fund c/o Tulane Gastroenterology Department, 1430 Tulane Avenue, SL 35, New Orleans, LA 70112. To share fond memories and condolences online, please visit, lakelawnmetairie.com.

Philip, my heart goes out to you and your family. Roberta was such a person of joy. I know what you are going through. It is painful, but our faith tells us that we will be together again and we will rejoice with Him forever.

Aunt Roberta always welcomed our family of 10 children with loving arms. She always greeted us with a smile and openly accepted the chaos into her home. It has been quite some time since I have had the pleasure of joining Aunt Roberta for a conversation, yet I will always take fond memories with me of our time together.
May you Rest In Peace sweet and lovely Aunt Roberta. May God put His loving arms around you and carry you home.
With love and sincerity, your niece, Valerie Gattuso Lanza
