Roger Joseph Halphen III

1963 - 2021

Roger J Halphen III, a resident of Buras, LA passed away and went to the Great "Margaritaville" in the Sky on January 22, 2021 at the age of 57. Born January 29th, 1963 in Port Sulphur, LA, Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Roger J Halphen, Jr. and Ruth Crabtree Halphen. Roger was Ruth's caretaker in her final years. He is survived by his siblings, Charles W. Allen (Bridget), Steve Vice and Leann Newman (Chad). He had four nieces and nephews that he cherished, Charley Allen (Tara), Caycee Francis, Jake Newman and Alex Newman along with being a great-uncle to Mary Kaitlyn Kimbrough, Murphey McGehee Allen, and Mariyah Lauren Francis. He was retired from Plaquemines Parish School System as a teacher, wrestling andfootball coach for 20 years. He loved coaching and teaching and cherished all of his students and student athletes. He also owned and operated The Rex Club, a popular bar that was the center of Buras night life before Katrina. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family is planning a celebration of life at a later date when it is safe to gather.
