Rose has been my friend for at least 56+ years since we were 9 years or so; we used to live next door to each other. I remember catching the chicken pox from her. LOL I remember her as being very chatty, friendly and loving. She always had a smile and she loved chatting with everyone in the neighborhood...young and old alike. We used to ride our bikes up and down the poorly kept pot hole filled streets of our neighborhood near the refineries. We used share a piece of her mom's chocolate cake on occasion. We played dress-up with our mother's old dresses and take pictures of each other with our imaginary cameras. We played soft ball on Retama St. In our later years, Rose would visit me in Corpus Christi every few years to catch up on stories about our families. I visited her a couple of times in Belle Chase and she and Butch cooked incredible meals for Richard, Mark, Susan and I. She introduced me to shrimp etoufee and boiled corn and crawfish all served on newspapers over the kitchen table...what a joyful feast that was for my family and I. Butch also introduced us to incredibly delicious blackened fish prepared outside; my husband Richard and I still talk about that fish. Most recently, she and Butch visited Richard and I in Colorado and we spent a few days together catching up on old times, eating and sharing recipes, going up Pike's Peak on the cog wheel train with our spouses, eating Chinese food at PF Chang and of course we visited the casino's in Blackhawk, Co. Everytime I visit that same casino, I think about her when I walk past the slot machine that she played for for a few hours. I will miss life ong friend. I apologize to Rose and family for not staying in touch as often as I could have. Rose, I will miss you and thank you so much for being my friend for such a long time. I love you, Rose!
