Roy L. Johnson

Funeral services for Roy L. Johnson, 78, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, formerly of Enterprise and Sicily Island, will be Saturday, January 22, 2022. The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and proceed to Heard Cemetery in Manifest, La., for a 1:30 p.m. for a graveside service, under the direction of Young's Funeral home. Roy was born Nov. 27, 1943 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and passed away Jan 12, 2022 in Belle Chasse, LA. He was one of seven children born to Jack and Katherine "Cecil" Husbands Johnson. After graduating from Sicily Island High School, he joined the US Army. Roy moved his family to Belle Chase and began working for Alliance Refinery as a chemist from 1974 until retirement. Roy and Mickey spent their time being with family and traveling. He was an avid reader of westerns and Louis L'amour. He was a kind, quiet, gentle, and humble person. Roy is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mickey Hedrick Johnson; daughter, Nikki Johnson; his parents; one brother, Hubert Johnson; and two sisters, Maudell Cagle, and Ruth Green. Roy is survived by his son, Micheal Johnson and wife, Jessica of Mandeville, La.; four grandchildren, Madelyn Johnson, Katherine Grace Johnson, Brooke Blackmon, and Blake Blackmon; brother, Bobby Johnson, two sisters, Patsy Prewitt and Jackie Mitchell and brother-in-law, Jack Hedrick, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
