Russell, I will miss you, your smile, and your big laugh. My first memories of you and your brother, Joe, go back to the 1940s when you all and your Dad, single handily, built your house on the old Beech Street in Garden City and moved to Baton Rouge. In our younger days, it seemed I never saw either you nor Joe alone--you were always together. And our high school days were great. All of the Istrouma High School Class of 1950 will miss you. You were always a pleasure to be around. I know your family will miss you, and I extend my condolences to them. God has promised that "All things work together for good to them that love God". Let us all put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ for guidance and comfort in these sorrowful times. Farewell, Good Friend, until we meet again.... Robert L. Raborn

Words cannot express how deeply you are missed. We were truly fortunate to have such a wonderful man as our grandfather. There is not a day that goes by that I don't see your smiling face when I close my eyes. We hope that you are finally at peace. You will continue to live on through our hearts and memories. There will never be a party without your presence known nor name unspoken. Until we can be with you again, I will tip plenty of martinis' in your honor. We love and miss you dearly.

Here is memo from a dear friend of our family. "Jan Brogdan" I felt that her memory should be shared. This is truly a vivid memory of my dad, and how he touched others.
My dad's love and dedication for people:
"Russell was unique,they broke the mold when he was born. What a sweet loving man he was. You were all so fortunote to have him as a dad/friend. I have such funny,fond memories of him, the two weeks we spent with him after the wedding (Shawn's). He gave so generously of his time and money and made us feel so welcome. Jason Brogdan & Rick Laffin felt like they were kings and he treated Trish Brogdan like she was a princes. He taught those kids how to party hearty! He will always be part of my loving memories of your family. Love Jan "

It was wonderful having a brother like Russell. We enjoyed one anothers company. Just a few weeks before his passing he came over and shared many stories with us. Russell will be missed very much by me and The Burton Family. May we all continue to visit one another in the future. Whenever you need someone to talk to I'm here. My love to all of you.

"CUZ"... is what we called each other and I will miss him as I do now and will never forget our dear relationship as cousins.
Russell and I were very close and I will miss our long phone conversations. We had many things in common especially the Food Service Industry and Russell had introduced me to many of his dear friends when I lived in the New Orleans area back in the 80's. I am so happy that you and your family were able to make it to Paul and I's party to celebrate our marriage in Lafayette 7 years ago. My friends were so glad to meet and know you all. Paul, JoAnne and Jeff said to pass along their condolences to the family. They all thought Russell was too cool. Also, the Brown Family sends their thoughts and prayers...
