Ruth Faust Obituary

FAUST Ruth Reuter Faust, born March 31, 1921, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2009. She was the beloved wife of Frank Leo Faust, M.D. for 66 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Victor and Clara Dietrich Reuter and her brother, James Victor Reuter, Jr. Ruth and Lee dedicated their lives as parents of their four boys, Frank Leo (Lee) Faust. Jr., and his wife Dominique of Keswick, Virginia, have one child Alix Odile Paget-Brown, M.D., and now two great grandchildren for Ruth, Alexander Elliott Paget-Brown and Chloe Elise Paget-Brown. Her second son, Ronald James Faust, M.D. and his wife Claire, of Nisswa, Minnesota have three children, Jennifer Faust Lefebvre, Lisa Jane Faust, Ph.D., and Jonathan Andrew Faust, M.D. Jennifer now has two of Ruth's great-grandchildren, George Lefebvre and Ivy Jane Lefebvre. Ruth's third son, Barry Francis Faust, M.D. and his wife Denise of New Orleans have four children, James Reuter Faust, Jacqueline Ruth Faust, Barry Francis Faust, Jr. and Alexandre Leo Faust. Ruth and Leo's fourth son is Donald Charles Faust, M.D. He and his wife Mary Kay, also New Orleanians, are parents of Katherine Celeste Faust, Donald Charles Faust, Jr. and Elizabeth Leigh Faust, who died as an infant. Ruth Faust was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. She attended Ursuline College and graduated from Loyola University. Her life was wonderfully committed to her loving family and her many dear friends. A vocal proponent of the importance of education, Ruth and her husband Leo created a home where higher education was strongly encouraged; this thirst for learning has been passed on to her ten surviving grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and an intellectual. Her children and grandchildren have all been inspired by her thoughtful dedication and her personal integrity. Appreciative of the fine arts, Ruth was an accomplished and prolific artist and painter. Her beautiful paintings reflect her warm, gentle personality and are treasured possessions in the collections of her family and friends. Ruth was a modern woman, fascinated by the quickly changing world of technology. In the last 15 years, she became a self-taught computer enthusiast, exploring the world of the internet, from cooking websites to political blogs. She will be remembered dearly by many as a wonderful friend. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 3:00 PM, followed by interment in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation to begin at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Jesuit High School, 4133 Banks Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70119.
