Sadayo Yamada Obituary

Sadayo Yamada died on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Marquis Care Nursing Home in Boise. Sada, as she was known by family and friends, was born in Loomis, California, May 20, 1919, the oldest of five children of Teisaburo and Tokuye (Nakatani) Uda. She was married just before WWII to Tom Yamada and they and her family were separated and placed in Internment camps with Tom and Sada being placed in Tule Lake, CA. Tom was given a job in the work program and were moved to Boise, Idaho where their daughter, Joyce Yamada, was born on November 14, 1943 at St. Luke's. Tom and Sada divorced shortly after. Sada went on to work in a drapery and interior design business with The Mode Limited. Gardening and her flowers, especially roses and orchids, were her enjoyment and she loved her cats, who were her best friends. Sada is survived by her daughter Joyce, and her two sisters Alice Vetter and Mary (Stan) Ogsbury. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Fusaye, and their brother Ben Uda. A viewing will be held today, Saturday, November 13th, at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 W. Bannock, Boise from 3-5 p.m. with service to follow at 5:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Terrace Lawn Cemetery, Meridian.
