I didn't get to know you like I wish I could have. Distance played a part in me not being closer to my family. My heart is in mourning of the news. My prayers are with my family. Love You All.

Laura, Megan
I am sorry we were not able to stay after the funeral. I really wish we could have had more time. Just know that you all are in our prayers and if you need anything just give us a call. I have very fond memories of being at your parents house on many occasions. Your dad always rattle me and I never knew when to take him seriously. But it was always in love. He will surely be missed. Love you guys.

Laura, Megan and family,

I'm sorry we couldn't be there for the service.

I have very fond memories of visiting. I was young and don't remember too much detail about Mr. D other than always thinking that he and your mother must have been very patient and giving people to have raised such a beautiful family and especially to have been so hospitable to Rufus during some very difficult years. I have always been grateful for that.

I also have a very vivid memory of the fridge with the beer tap sticking out of it and to this day hold that as a level of achievement of success in a home:) I remember the home as quintessential Nawlins in that it was about making the best of what you have and enjoying life. That is what I remember.

Mr. Sal was an angel on earth. He was both a warrior and messenger of God, whose faith was as strong and unshakable as was his love for his dear family. He attended weekly mass until he was physically unable to do so and thereafter watched the mass on television.

Sal spoke often of how much he appreciated the care that he received from his daughters, granddaughters, grandson, son-in-law and grandsons-in law, nephews and nieces. The birthday party which they surprised him with last November was one of the highlights of his life. He talked about it right up until his final days.

I will remember and miss this wonderful giant of a man for all of my remaining days on this earth. He sleeps with angels in the arms of his beloved wife, who undoubtedly was there to meet him when he passed over.

When we lived on Columbus Street and I attended Corpus Christi, as I entered the seminary, Mr. Dufauchard was always encouraging and supportive. He was gracious and kind, a model of a man! Vanessa and family, our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Sal was a fixture in my early years as I would look forward to seeing him every day when he delivered my grandmother's groceries from Mule's. While I have been gone from New Orleans for many years, seeing news of his death is like having a little part of New Orleans and my childhood pass away. My sincere sympathy to his wife and family.
