Sarah "Granny" Wharton Amedee on Monday, April 7, 2003. Daughter of the late James C. and Madeline Wharton. Wife of the late Rev. Earl J. Amedee, Sr. attorney at law. Mother of Earl Jr., Lawrence, Ernest, George Amedee, Eunice Terrance, Madeline Williams and Lois Henderson. Sister of Joseph Wharton, Eugenia Weathersby, Eucharist Richards and the late James Wharton and Alicia Armour. Grandmother of Paul Aples, Jr., Malaika Garner, Lisa and John Henderson III, Chrystelle and Leoance Williams II, Ronique, Nyree, Nickee, Ernest, Jr., George, Jr., Derek Jahillary and Jamaal Amedee and the late Christopher Henderson. Mother-in-law of Joyce D., Joyce F. Amedee and Leoance Williams I. Sister-in-law of Lucille and Eliza Wharton. Godmother of George Jones and Renaldo Smith. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers and members of New Light Baptist Church, Bethel A.M.E. Greater Liberty B.C., St. Gabriel Catholic Church and all neighboring churches, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and faculty, staff and administration of Jackson State University, Livingston Middle School, Edwards, James Lewis, Behrman and A.P. Tureaud Middle Schools, G.W. Carver and Sarah T. Reed High Schools are invited to attend a funeral service held on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 1:00 pm at New Light Baptist Church, 1435 Feliciana St. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
