Sean Early Obituary

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in New Orleans for beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Judge Sean Patrick Early, 67, who passed away on August 20, 2024, at University Medical Center. After graduating from Spring Hill College and Southern University Law Center, Sean served as a public defender representing the community he loved. Following eight years of service with the indigent defender's office, Sean was elected as Municipal Court Judge where he served for 28 years. In addition to fervently loving his family and having the biggest heart known to mankind, Sean was one of the most passionate (and loudest) Saints fans in the City of New Orleans. He is predeceased by his parents, the Honorable Thomas A. Early, Jr. and his mother, Betty Franek Early. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janie; children, Ryan (Katie) and Quinlan (Leslie); grandsons, Nolan and Jude; his sisters, Amy Korte (Rick), and Erin Belleau (Dr. Chris); nieces and nephews, Kami Korte, Charles, Wes, Austin, Kaily, & Holly Belleau; along with many other nieces, nephews and beloved cousins who were like siblings to him. Family and friends are invited to the services. His visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, located at 3368 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, LA 70119, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and Mass will follow at 1:00 pm. Serving as his pallbearers are Michael Sipos, Tommy Garic, Rick Korte, Mikey Sipos, Philip Sipos, Dr. Chris Belleau, Henry Rouquette and Colin Dahl. Honorary pallbearers will be Homer Durel and Kurt Sumrall. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting lakelawnmetairie.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home of New Orleans.

Janie, I will always remember dancing with you and Erin during Jazz Fest when Sean hosted a block party outside the bar that he owned at the time. God rest his lovely soul. Sean joins my husband, Al, who died in April 2024. I'm sure they are having a grand old time up in Heaven. Love and hugs, Siobhan

A great classmate at Christian Brothers and at De La Salle. I always looked forward to bumping into you at the St. Patrick's day parade and at our high school reunions. I was saddened by your passing, as I was looking forward to seeing that mirthful smile on your face as I regaled you with my unique sense of humor which you always sought me out to enjoy and talk over the good old days. Our golden 50th year De La Salle reunion next year will be a huge void that I will personally feel, but as a fellow Irishman, I will definitely raise a toast to you in your honor with all of our classmates from the Class of 75. Enjoy Paradise and save me a good place at the big reunion when I cross over with a shamrock in one hand and a funny joke in the other. You were the epitome of a class act; your shoes are hard to fill, my boy...

Sean walked into my bar when he was 16, and I was 20. He was leader of the pack, and we were friends ever since. He liked to stay up late and sing on the blue bridge over the bayou. A beautiful man. sadly missed already.

Judge Sean Early was a great boss who I respected and admired. He was smart, savvy, kind and fun; but most of all he was loyal to his family, friends, New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Track, his Irish roots and the Saints!
