Spencer Caleb Didriksen

Spencer Caleb Didriksen, 27, a loving son, brother and friend, the embodiment of joy, love, and freedom to all who knew him, passed away on Saturday, March 6th, 2021. From the beginning, Spencer was kind and gentle and worked to become a man who was not only sensitive but radically accepting of himself and those around him. As committed to joy as he was to his sobriety, Spencer showed us, though briefly, what we can become when we lean into the better angels of our nature. Spencer mastered the art of building relationships, beginning at birth with his twin, continuing through the adoption of his sister, Eliza, and perfecting it with his family and the community he built in Austin. He was equally likely to have those around him doubled over in laughter or leaning in for a deep conversation filled with insight and vulnerability. Never one for mediocrity, Spencer turned dance challenges into double dares, made brief introductions into deep friendship, and knitted any outsiders into the fabric of his community. Determined to live life fully and authentically, he often defied conventional barriers, whether it was creating healthy spaces for the sober community at music festivals or convincing a bartender to let him behind the restaurant bar to hit a gong. No wholehearted expression of life was out of Spencer's grasp. Known for his infectious smile and a sense of style epitomized by bright pink skinny jeans, Spencer lit up every room he entered. His presence always was and continues to be deeply known and felt. Spencer and his twin brother Severin were born September 7th, 1993 in New Orleans. Growing up, he attended St. Martin's Episcopal School for high school. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Statistics from Baylor University and a post-graduate certification in Data Analytics from Thinkful. After graduation, he moved to Austin, where he thrived and established a loving and incredibly fun chosen family. He worked as Data Analyst for Apple and BPL Plasma, but most importantly, he loved brightening the day of those around him. He was radiant, in every way. In Austin, he spent time outside and enjoyed nature, left it all out on the dance floor, and never missed a Saints game. Spencer is survived by his mother Sondra Brown and her husband Kevin Conway of New Orleans; father Caleb H. Didriksen III and his wife Alejandra of New Orleans; brother Severin Didriksen of New Orleans; brother Luke Didriksen of Miami; sister Eliza Didriksen of New Orleans; stepbrother Ameer; stepsister Tarah; grandmother Eleanore H. Didriksen; grandmother Kathleen Conway; Uncle Kevin Brown and Aunt Sandy Brown; Uncle Jonathan Brown and Aunt Wendi Brown; Aunt Karie Brown; Aunt Deedie and Uncle Scott Killgore; Aunt Nancy and Uncle Mark Buckley; Aunt Libby Didriksen and Uncle Jeff Watson; and many cousins, loving relatives and friends. Spencer was preceded in death by his grandfather William "Bill" J. Brown; his grandmother Mary Lou Brown; his grandfather Caleb H. Didriksen, Jr. and his grandfather Dennis "Mickey" Conway.
